British racer Oliver Bearman criticized the FIA for deleting his fastest lap in the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix qualifying due to a late red flag that he claims he wasn’t informed of in time. The session at F1’s Imola GP was heavily disrupted by two red flags caused by crashes from Yuki Tsunoda and Franco Colapinto. Bearman was on a flying lap when the red flags came out, but the FIA ruled it fell before he finished his lap, resulting in his lap being deleted. Bearman, feeling it was unjust, argued that the decision wasn’t corrected despite evidence supporting his case. This unfortunate ruling left Bearman starting 19th on the grid, missing a chance to improve his position for the race and showcase his team’s new car package. Despite the team’s efforts to appeal the decision, Bearman will have to start at the back of the grid for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix alongside teammate Esteban Ocon in 18th place.
